PaD: Compartmentalizing? Or not.

Hello, friends! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Regular readers will note a change in this blog’s url, as it’s been moved from the eyeballman.com domain onto a new subdomain at mangabookshelf.com.

With the launch of WordPress 3.0, I’ve suddenly gained the ability to go multi-bloggish on a single WP installation, which has made me think a bit about how to best use this space. I have Manga Bookshelf, of course, for all my discussion and review of English-translated East Asian comics (mainly from Japan and South Korea, with just a little from from China), and now also Manhwa Bookshelf, for a focus on Korean manhwa specifically.

So what about this blog? When I launched Manga Bookshelf less than a year ago, I returned this to its origins as a personal blog, but as you can see, it’s remained mostly unused. The most recent entry (before today) was from January, and it was about (surprise, surprise) comics. The truth is, there isn’t much content of a strictly personal nature that I’m really interested in writing about online these days, so for the most part, I haven’t been doing so.

What I do feel like writing much of the time, however, is sort of a hybrid of personal and professional thoughts, most of which is too “bloggy” (for lack of a better word) to be appropriate for either of my other blogs in their current format, much like the little comics-fandom-related post I made here in January.

What I’m getting around to, here, is that I’m going to start using this blog for those types of posts, and personal posts too, when I have the urge. Thanks to the magic of Sitewide Tags (along with some help from a couple of other plugins) I can then port relevant content over to the “Recent Posts” widget at Manga Bookshelf, while keeping the personal stuff a bit more out of the spotlight. In a way, I suppose I’m using WP’s new capabilities for compartmentalizing in order to transform my whole blogging experience into something a bit more cohesive. Weird? Maybe. But that’s how I roll.

So, that’s the plan. We’ll see how it goes! Meanwhile, enjoy the return of the Lucydog header image. :) I miss looking at that every day. Don’t you?
