Amused

What was that, Potter?”

Pansy stepped sideways, just behind a large statue of some ancient Headmaster, maintaining a clear view while keeping safely out of range. They were going at it more frequently than ever this year, not that she was complaining. After all, it was the only thing of remote interest that ever happened at Hogwarts.

Soon, insults turned to hexes. Potter grew a second nose. Draco’s skin turned green. Back and forth they flew, as Pansy struggled to stay quiet, her sides aching with laughter.

Later, in the hospital wing, she held Draco’s hand, eyes dark with concern.

Drabble, Accomplished, Neville

Welcome to Dorrito’s Every Flavour Mood Beans
and our very first drabble of the project. Since marginalia has made the very important introductory post, I will begin. The master list of drabbles will be kept here.

Accomplished

It wasn’t what he’d expected. He thought perhaps there’d be trumpets, maybe a small banner. Explosions, cheering, that sort of thing. Instead, he felt only a tightening across his chest, spreading upward, reddening his face as Professor Snape squinted over his cauldron.

“Not awful, Longbottom,” he snapped, sniffing loudly.

“Not awful,” Neville repeated, choking back laughter. “Not awful.” Hermione shook her head at him, brow furrowed.

He stayed in the greenhouse late that night, pruning, re-potting, soothing a troublesome Mandrake as it cried itself to sleep. He fell into bed, exhausted and smiling, his Potions text abandoned on the floor.
